•Become more involved in decisions about their life
•Voice concerns and challenge decisions made by others
•Understand their rights
•Understand information given by health or social care services
•Understand health or social care processes
•Explore options and make decisions
•Feel supported during frustrating or challenging times in their life
•Develop self-confidence and self-advocacy skills
People may need advocacy support when they:
•Feel no one is listening to them
•Are having difficulty accessing services
•Are unaware of/or are unable to understand their rights
•Feel ‘lost’ within systems
•Are unable to understand or remember relevant information
•Are unable to communicate their views
