Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Statement

At Advocacy Focus, equity, diversity and inclusion are central to who we are and how we work.

We are committed to challenging discrimination, advancing equity, and promoting social inclusion in everything we do. This applies to the people we support, the people we work with, our volunteers, and our trustees.

We value difference and recognise that people bring lived experience, insight and strength from many backgrounds. We actively work to remove barriers and ensure fair access to opportunities, services and support.

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment or exclusion on the basis of any protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

We take a proactive approach to inclusion by:

  • Embedding EDI into our services, policies and decision-making
  • Using inclusive and fair recruitment practices
  • Listening to the communities we serve and working in partnership
  • Collecting and reviewing data to understand impact and improve equity

Our CEO and senior leadership team are accountable for EDI progress, supported by an internal EDI working group. Progress is monitored and reported through our governance structures to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.

As an advocacy organisation, we see EDI as a human rights issue, not a tick-box exercise. We are committed to learning, improving and holding ourselves to account.
